Arid the Honeypot Ant is a children's picture book suitable for primary school learners aged 3-11. It tells the story of Arid, a young honeypot ant, who lives in the desert. Arid gets separated from her colony during a sudden thunderstorm and embarks on a journey of self discovery whilst finding her way back home. Arid is not making the journey on her own. Honeypot ants live in dry climates around the world and have an instinct to save in spring time when food is abundant. The book shows the beauty of the desert environment and touches upon themes of resilience, the importance of community and the importance of saving. 

 

The author has been pursuing professional qualifications in financial planning and wealth management. Through storytelling and her character of Arid the honeypot ant, she wishes to support children's financial education from a young age. Means and resources in life are limited. This book illustrates how the honeypot ant copes.
